EDU review:
With folky-pop votes going to Norway and dancey-pop votes going to Azerbaijan & Turkey, Iceland profitted as the stand-out ballad of 2009. 18 year old Yohanna was pitch perfect and put everything into a sweet and moving song of 'he done her wrong.'
Friðrik Ómar (Eurobandid, 2008) makes a welcome return on back-up!
What were they thinking putting Yohanna in a toilet doll dress?
At least Norway saved Iceland the quandry of how to host Eurovision in a bankrupt nation (phew!)
place: 2nd score: 218
douze: 12 to Norway
HISTORY
Females do better than the lads for Iceland. Yohanna in 2009 (2nd) was brilliant but outplayed by a fiddler, while Selma in 1999 (2nd) was brilliant and lost to ABBA impersonators.
